Every Pet Deserves A Good Home…

PETA’s Palin Craziness

My Weasel of the Week nominee is PETA!! .

Sarah Palin posted a photo of her 6-year-old special needs son, Trig, trying to help with the dishes. Nobody immediately reacted when he said he needed help to reach the sink, so Trig took it upon himself to solve the problem. He stood on the family dog, Jill, a black lab especially trained to be a companion for kids like Trig who suffers from down syndrome.

When Palin posted the photo, PETA went nuts. Now I’m a dog, an animal lover, but really???

Hmmm… funny thing?!? When Ellen DeGeneres, who doesn’t suffer from Downs or the like, posted virtually the same photo of herself standing on the family dog as a child, there were crickets from PETA and then they nominated her women of the year.

Ellen_thumb[1]

And when President Obama admitted that he ate dog meat as a child in Indonesia there wasn’t a peep either from PETA.

Or how about when New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio dropped the groundhog, who eventually died, at the yearly celebration? I don’t remember a peep from PETA then either.

But like with anything else in today’s climate, if you are a Democrat or a Progressive from either party, you are untouchable and always excused, but if you are a Republican or worse yet, a tea party Republican, you are fair game with a target on your back for anyone or any group to inflict their fake outrage. Just ask former Governor and GOP Presidential Candidate Romney .

But Sarah Palin responded to PETA like only Sarah can!

Iditarod Trail Race Headquarters, Palin and Alaskan Tourism

Knik Goose Bay Road starts out perpendicular to the Parks Highway, but swings right until it is 45 degrees to this principal artery.  This road takes you past the Iditarod Headquarters into Lake Lucille Park, which is owned and operated by the City of Wasilla. Walking out to the water’s edge, you see what for many in the Palinista Community is True North and a good place to begin the Sarah Palin History Tour.

He and his race partner Eric Quam entered the 2,000-mile race, starting in Big Lake with a halfway stop in Nome and finishing in Fairbanks, with a new snowmachine in 2012.

The Palins also run a mix of lead and team dogs for the Iditarod, touted as the Last Great Race on Earth.

Did you know that Gov. Palin Generates $189 Million Yearly in Alaskan Tourism wholly related to her? She motivates 44% of tourist travel to the state and her favorable number is 21 points higher among Alaska tourists than the general public.

Sarah Palin and Senator Mile Lee Take Time to Visit Service Dog Trainers While in Iowa

Lee Palin and Puppy Elmer

The Iowa Republican: Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska were guests at a Puppy Jake Foundation pre-Veterans’ Day reception Friday evening at the home of Robin and Dave Lickteig in Cumming on Friday night. Lee and Palin are in Iowa to speak at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition’s 13th Annual Friends of the Family Banquet Saturday night at the Paul R. Knapp Learning Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

Puppy Jake and several puppies who are in training to become service dogs for military veterans were on hand to greet Sen. Lee, Gov. Palin and her husband, Todd Palin. The puppies were accompanied by their foster families and supporters of the Puppy Jake Foundation.

Trainer Renee Jetter, who is raising Puppy Bob, said each service dog goes through almost two years of preparation in order to become a skilled service dog. Jetter, who owns Caine Craze Performance Center in Urbandale along with her husband Scott, expects Bob to be placed with a veteran when he is about 20 months old. The young service-dogs-in training go through many learning experiences to prepare them to confidently handle all kinds of public venues and social situations a veteran dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder might experience, such as the large gathering in Cumming.

Lee cradles Puppy Elmer who falls fast asleepBoth Lee and Palin couldn’t resist holding some of the newest members of the Puppy Jake Foundation training class. Palin latched on to Josie, a 9-week old chocolate Labrador puppy being raised by Tripp Kinney. And 11-week old Elmer, an 11-week old Golden Retriever being raised by Jessica Van Maanen, snuggled up in Lee’s arms and fell asleep like a little baby.

In between holding Josie and chatting with guests at the reception, Lee discussed the debate over Obamacare and the fundamental differences between the progressive left and the conservative movements taking place in government. “My definition of conservatism is a point between radical collectivism and radical individualism. Conservatives realize that we are all in this together and we do it through the right balance of civil society and free markets,” said Lee.

“Republicans must learn how to better articulate both their deep concerns for the poor and their better vision for moving the poor out of poverty and from dependency on government,” said Lee, who was elected to the Senate during the 2010 mid-term elections with 62 percent of the vote against the Democrat challenger.

Palin came to Iowa after attending the 95th birthday party for Rev Billy Graham at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina Thursday night. “It was such a variety of people and beliefs and backgrounds. There was Donald Trump over there and then there was Todd and Sarah of Wasilla over here,” said Palin who was one of three speakers along with Greta Van Sustern and Graham’s own pastor, Rev. Don Wilton, of the First Baptist church of Spartanburg, South Carolina. The event was attended by more than 900 people including Rupert Murdock, Chick-fil-A’s Dan Cathy, pastor Rick Warren, Grammy-winner Michael W. Smith, country singer Ricky Scaggs and “Today” show host Kathie Lee Gifford.

“I told him we need a Methuselah,” said Palin. “He ushered in the Jesus movement in the 1970s and my mom, who was raised Catholic, came to Christ through his ministry, and as a result so has my whole family” said Palin, who was baptized Catholic. “He has reached more than 215 million people in more than 185 countries. Over the past several years the Palins have traveled with Van Sustern and her husband and Rev. Franklin Graham on mission and service trips throughout the world. In addition to speaking at Graham’s birthday bash and coming to Des Moines for the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition dinner, Palin will begin a nation-wide tour next week when her new book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas (Kindle) is released November 12.

Flushing Dogs

In the midst of the all the media hysteria and political establishment temper tantrums over Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee’s attempt to defund ObamaCare, Sarah Palin just wrote: Cruz and Lee acted as the grassroots’ flushing dogs or critters says Palin for Breitbart.com and of course posted on her Facebook a tool that she has become an expert at using.

palin-hunting-flushing-dog

Hunters know what flushing dogs do. Cruz and Lee were acting as the grassroots’ flushing dogs. Their actions showed us who was willing to stand up for hard working Americans and who wasn’t. We thank Senators Vitter, Paul, Crapo, Enzi, Fischer, Roberts, Scott, Heller, Grassley, Toomey, Moran, Rubio, Shelby, Risch, Inhofe, Portman, and Sessions for standing with Cruz and Lee, wrote Sarah Palin.  Read full article HERE.

But although hunters know what flushing dogs do, most Americans do not.

Wikipedia: Essentially, a Flushing Dog is a gundog trained to flush game, especially birds, by first finding the game then driving it from its hiding place for a hunter to shoot or capture. Flushing dogs are different from other gundog types such as pointers and setters, dogs which remain still after locating the game, or retrievers, dogs that fetch the game after it has been shot. Some types of dogs have been specially bred for flushing ability, such as cockers and other spaniels. Other breeds of gundog are also often trained as flushing dogs, especially retrievers. Most flushing dogs are very people-friendly and make excellent companions and pets.[1]

Hunters will tell you, nothing beats a well-trained flushing dog for exciting upland action on birds and small game, and much of their success lies in the training.

But, great flushing dogs are born, not made, and the best trainer in the world would be sorely pressed to compensate for a canine’s faulty genes. Unfortunately, picking a pup is more art than science, no matter how much kennel browsing you’ve done.

When I’m in the market for a puppy, I start shopping by looking through the classified ads in local papers and networking with fellow dog owners. The tip that resulted in finding my current field companion was passed along with the mashed potatoes at a Pheasants Forever fund-raising dinner. I bit right away because the tipster shared my love for flushing breeds and knew exactly what I was looking for. Even better, the litter of puppies he had in mind were the offspring of another avid hunter’s prize bitch. That dog was the nemesis of neighborhood birds, and I rightly suspected her pups would be chips off the old block.

So, before you check out a puppy, ask yourself just what you want in a dog. Then meet your prospects’ sire and dam too, if they are available for inspection. Only then will you be ready to start comparing littermates.

Sarah Palin would probably tell you that great servants of the people like Cruz and Lee are also born, not made. Although if you ever heard Ted Cruz’s dad, Raphael Cruz, speak… you might question that.

Iditarod Dog Saved With Mouth-To-Snout CPR

Sled Dog Rescued By ‘Mushing Mortician’

An Iditarod sled dog, who collapsed navigating a steep section of Alaska’s Dalzell Gorge, was saved by his racer-owner thanks to some mouth-to-snout CPR.

Scott “Mushing Mortician” Janssen, 51, told the Anchorage Daily News that the 9-year-old husky, named Marshall, was pulling hard at the sled and then fell to the ground.

“I know what death looks like, and he was gone. Nobody home,” the Anchorage funeral home owner told the newspaper.

According to the publication, Janssen saw that the husky stopped breathing, so he started CPR by putting his mouth over the dog’s snout, breathing air into his lungs and compressing his chest.

“I’m like ‘C’mon dude, please come back.’ And he did,” Janssen said.

Janssen told the newspaper that Marshall was carried in the sled for the next 32 miles until the team reached the Rohn checkpoint. He was treated by a veterinarian, given an IV and was prepped to be flown back to Anchorage.

“He’s doing just fine. He’s still at the checkpoint, and they’re flying him back home today,” Janssen said.

According to the Anchorage Daily, Janssen is running in only his second Iditarod after placing 42 out of 47 finishers in 2011.

Janssen said Marshall is likely one of his oldest sled dogs and has finished about six Iditarods — mainly with another musher.

The Iditarod is the granddaddy of American animal races.

There are two separate major races/events on the Iditarod trial; is the Iditarod Trail Dog Sled Race.  The other is the Iron Dog Snow Mobile race on the Iditarod Trail.  There is also a Junior Iditarod.  Iditarod | Last Great Race on Earth® – The Official Site of the …

Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd Palin, is an Iditarod champion. He first competed in The Iron Dog race, a race along the Iditarod Trail from Big Lake to Nome and then back to Fairbanks in 1993 and has been a champion snowmobile racer, winning the Tesoro Iron Dog race four times. His racing co-pilot is Scott Davis. Todd Palin is competing again in the 2012 race at the end end of February.  This year the Iron Dog was won by the McKenna and VanMeter team.

The Palins do, however, run a mix of lead and team dogs.
