It’s time once again for the Watcher’s Council’s ‘Weasel Of The Weeknominations, where we pick our choices to compete for the award of the famed Golden Weasel to a public figure who particularly deserves to be slimed and mocked for his or her dastardly deeds during the week. Every Tuesday morning, tune in for the Weasel of the Week nominations!

Here are this weeks’ nominees….

The Monster Who Tortured And Abused This Dog

Don Surber: The known-only-to-God-and-the-Devil expletive who did this. The bastard.

Live 5 News: NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -The 41-year-old man accused of taping a 15-month-old dog’s muzzle shut last week was issued a $50,000 bond Tuesday morning, and told he must surrender another dog at his home.
William Leonard Dodson was arrested Monday night in the abuse case of Caitlyn, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who was found last week with electrical tape wrapped around her muzzle, according to North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor.
Dodson, who has been charged with animal cruelty, was issued a $50,000 surety bond Tuesday by Magistrate Priscilla Baldwin.

He also must surrender a second dog he has at his residence, Baldwin ordered.

*This guy, as always with animal abusers, got off way to light. In cases like these, I’m and eye for an eye kinda gal!  And let us remember that Domestic and Animal Abuse are related!!

As a WC friend pointed out today…    “As I suspected, a career criminal from a certain background, whom likely grew up fatherless. I doubt this bastard Dodson has $5,000, and sending him to jail means little at this point. He’ll probably get get some kind of plea bargain    involving community service.”  Another said, “Just horrific. I can’t print what I would do to this asshat given a chance. Dogs are the most innocent of souls. He’s getting off way too light.”  And still others said, “I can’t even look at that. I hugged both of my dogs after seeing that”; “That is a stomach-churning photograph”; and  “There are more pics at the Blaze. What kind of scumbag would do something like  that? Gawd”.

Racialist Cop Hater and Baltimore City Attorney Marilyn Mosby!!

The Noisy Room: I nominate for Weasel of the Week, Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby for pulling an Anthony Weiner and claiming her Twitter account was hacked after two controversial tweets were “favorited” by a personal Twitter account belonging to her. The first tweet referred to the officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray as “those 6 THUG cops” and the other praised Mosby and claimed she “INFURIATES a certain kind of white person.” Her office is now claiming that these acts were conducted by some shadowy hacker. It’s amazing to me that these politicians can’t behave on social media and when they get caught, they always blame some nefarious nerd for their bad behavior.

From The Blaze:

“Both Mosby’s official Twitter account and her personal account were hacked,” the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office reportedly told “The Kelly File” on Wednesday. “We do not know how long it’s been going on, we are working with Twitter.”
Mosby revealed on May 23 that her official government Twitter account had been hacked, but did not mention her personal account being compromised. Further, the tweets in question were favorited by her personal account weeks before her government account was reportedly hacked.

How convenient that only two Tweets were hacked on a Twitter account that wasn’t reported hacked at all – I’m sure it’s just a massive coincidence that the two Tweets are highly racist, offensive and just so happen to paint her as the cop-hater and grand-stander she really is. She’s just the kind of weasel Progressive that Obama hearts.

Secretary Of State John Kerry – Did You know He Served In Vietnam?

Virginia Right!: John Kerry took a break from negotiations with Iran on a nuclear deal to have a little fun in the world of competitive cycling. The rigors of the Tour de France circuit are pretty daunting. And Kerry is 71 years old. et he decided to risk his health and limb on a bicycle.

And he broke his hip or leg. Apparently the hip replacement surgery he had a while back is pretty close to the break.

So first and foremost, he is an idiot.

But more importantly, Iran now miraculously has more time to refine nuclear material while the talks are on hold.

So, did John Kerry break his hip on purpose to help Iran develop the bomb? Of course not! His leg isn’t really broken. He is faking it. (Ok. That is for my conspiracy theory friends.)

I am sure he broke his leg. And it was nothing more than complete stupidity. But it does throw a monkey wrench in the Iran talks and gives them what they need most – more time.

And as if that were not enough, Kerry had his doctor flown to Europe and accompany him on his return flight to the US for treatment. In a military transport jet that usually carries 100 soldiers.

Kerry probably added 2 degrees to global warming on his trip back home.

The Daily Mail reports:

“A US military C-17 transport aircraft that usually carries at least 100 troops flew to Geneva Airport to pick up Secretary of State John Kerry and fly him to Boston where he’ll be treated for a broken leg.

The Air Force plane touched down in Switzerland on Monday after taking off from a US base in Ramstein, Germany, and then heading to Massachusetts after collecting the 71-year-old politician.

Kerry tweeted out ‘big thanks’ to his well-wishers and said he looked forward to getting his leg set and getting back to work at the State Department. “

Carolyn Mahonehy

Noo Yawk Dummy-crat, 2nd Amendment Hater  and Insurance Company Prostitute   Carolyn B. Maloney!!

JoshuaPundit: The thing about weasels is that they love to disguise their self-serving evil as virtue, as something ‘everybody knows’ and ‘every decent person supports.’  When you hear that coming out of someone’s mouth, it’s a dead giveaway you’re talking to a totalitarian lovin’ prog fascist.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney has a bill she’s submitting in the House that would require Americans who choose to avail themselves of the freedoms given to them by the 2nd Amendment to  purchase mandatory liability insurance.

“We require insurance to own a car, but no such requirement exists for guns,” Maloney said in a statement. “The results are clear: car fatalities have declined by 25 percent in the last decade, but gun fatalities continue to rise.”

Maloney said auto insurance carriers incentivize drivers to take precautions to reduce accidents, but no such incentives exist for firearm owners

Of course, aside from being unconstitutional, there are two outright lies in that statement. First, there’s no insurance requirement to own and drive a car. While most people buy it, especially if they have a vehicle of some value,  Every state in the union allows a cash bond to be  posted by a prospective car owner  in lieu of insurance. And there is no requirement to obtain insurance when you buy a vehicle. That’s why most policies include uninsured motorist coverage.

And gun fatalities aren’t rising. They’ve been falling for some time, and are down 49% from 1993.

Ah, but here’s where the real weasel touch comes in. Guess who Ms. Maloney’s biggest campaign contributors are?

Why yes! It’s the insurance companies, who stand to make a nice chunk o’ change if this idiocy went through.

The bill is almost certainly headed nowhere, but this way, Ms. Maloney can say she tried to her donors. And may I add that this legislation, like most gun control  merda taurorum is racist and  elitest as well, since it discriminates against minorities and the poor whom need to defend themselves? Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it, from a privileged congress weasel with the best security money can buy – courtesy of the U.S, tax payers she wants to disarm so badly.

Well, there it is. What a despicable group of  Weasels…ANY OF THEM COULD WIN! Check back Thursday to see which Weasel walks off with the statuette of shame!

Make sure to tune in every Monday for the Watcher’s Forum.

And remember, every Wednesday, the Council has its weekly contest with the members nominating two posts each, one written by themselves and one written by someone from outside the group for consideration by the whole Council. The votes are cast by the Council, and the results are posted on Friday morning.

It’s a weekly magazine of some of the best stuff written in the blogosphere, and you won’t want to miss it...or any of the other fantabulous Watcher’s Council content.

And don’t forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter..’cause we’re cool like that, y’know!

Lab crew indicted on animal cruelty charges

By RENEE ELDER  -  Associated Press  -  Posted: Thursday, Jul. 07, 2011

RALEIGH, N.C. Four former workers at a North Carolina testing lab have been indicted on felony animal cruelty charges, following an animal rights group’s undercover investigation that captured video images of animals being hit, kicked and thrown, officials said Wednesday.

Gates County District Attorney Frank Parrish said Christine Clement and Tracy Small were indicted on two counts each of cruelty to animals, while Jessica Detty and Mary Ramsey were each indicted on five counts of the same charge. Parrish said the grand jury handed down the indictments Tuesday.

In North Carolina, the sentence for a person with no previous criminal record could range from as little as three months of community service to 14 months in prison.

The charges follow the September 2010 release of a videotape provided by an undercover worker for the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Detty said Wednesday that she was not aware of the indictment, nor had she heard from the other three defendants in the case. She told The Associated Press that she wouldn’t mistreat animals.

"Wow. I don’t see myself as a type of person to ever do something like that and I would not ever," said Detty, who said she was a receptionist at the lab for a year and a half. "If I were to go to court, I would surely have a lawyer to defend me that I was not in the wrong," Detty said.

Messages left for the other three workers were not immediately returned Wednesday.

PETA lab investigator Kathy Guillermo called it a groundbreaking case for animal rights.

She said it is the first case she is aware of in which research lab workers have been charged with animal cruelty.

"There are unspeakable things happening to animals in labs every day, but when you also strike them, kick them or withhold health care, it’s animal cruelty,’ Guillermo said.

The video shot by a PETA member working at the lab shows workers throwing a cat, pulling a dog’s teeth with inadequate pain medication and trying to pull a cat’s claws off by jerking it from a wire cage.

Professional Laboratory and Research Services Inc. was closed in late 2010 after the USDA received PETA’s report and began to investigate the operation.

Guillermo said the lab was not affiliated with any specific company but would carry out testing for manufacturers of pet products, such as flea and tick medications.

More than 200 dogs and 50 cats were confiscated from the lab by the USDA following the investigation.

The lab’s owner, Helen Sonenshine, of Virginia, did not return a call from a reporter Wednesday.

Connie Detty, the mother of Jessica Detty, said her daughter was an animal lover who often brought rabbits home from the lab to keep them from being euthanized.

Gates County is on the North Carolina-Virginia line, about 114 miles northeast of Raleigh.

Associated Press writer Emery Dalesio contributed to this report.

Stop Gas Chambers in North Carolina Animal Shelters

iReport —

CNN:  Please do a story about gas chambers in North Carolina animal shelters. More than 20 counties in our state kill lost and abandoned dogs and cats in carbon monoxide chambers, which can endanger government staff while the animals suffer a horrible death.  We need you, CNN.

Lincoln County Animal Control

Lincolnton, NC

The gas chamber exploded in 2009 and injured a worker.  The employee described the incident on the WSOC news: “Kaboom, and here come a ball of flame.”

WSOC-TV video here: Gas Chamber Explodes and Injures Workerhttp://www.wsoctv.com/news/21349513/detail.html

Iredell County Animal Control

Statesville, NC

Despite a widely reported explosion of the gas chamber in 2008, the county continues to defend its use to kill animals.  An employee also described this explosion with the term “Kaboom.”

The county rejected an offer by a local celebrity to raise millions of dollars for a new shelter, with one condition being that no gas chamber would be used.  Unbelieveable.  Why is it worth so much to keep a machine which can hurt government employees or even kill them?

http://www.wsoctv.com/news/16956249/detail.html

Rowan County Animal Control

Salisbury, NC

Shelter manager Clai Martin angrily defends the gas chamber.  An employee told me that large C-clamps have been used to keep dogs from escaping the gas chamber, because they struggle so hard to get out and break the door latch open.  I asked Clai Martin about this and he said the C-clamps are used but “we don’t need them”.

Brunswick County Animal Services

Supply, NC

Since the old gas chamber would not pass new state regulations in 2009, the county purchased another used gas chamber which also did not comply.  Make sense?  Not to county residents who insist that the gassing stop.

For the three months spent repairing the second faulty gas chamber, the county euthanized all animals humanely by injection.  They have proven that this is possible for all animals but still resumed gassing in January 2010.

Sampson County Animal Control

Clinton, NC

A past inspection of the gas chamber by NC Department of Labor noted that an animal inside the chamber made noise for 10 minutes while gassed during the inspection.  The inspector said,“The animal begins to struggle because it cannot breathe.”

http://www.scribd.com/doc/7645495/Sampson-County-Gas-Chamber-Malfunction

Susan Holder, interim county manager, announced in a 2007 Sampson Independent article, “Once we move, we will abandon the use of the gas chamber.” However, the county has gone back to gassing most animals.

Randolph County Animal Shelter

Randleman, NC

Health director Mimi Cooper lobbied against Davie’s Law, a bill seeking to halt gas chambers in 2009.  She joked that she hoped the bill died by lethal injection.

A former community service worker served time at this shelter. She said she was so upset after seeing the animals gassed that she chose to go to jail instead.

Another former community service worker saw the animals being gassed, complained and was removed from the shelter.

Person County Animal Control

Roxboro, NC

Records show that a gas chamber company owner is a paid consultant for this shelter.  Notice #7 on the contract “providing advice and counseling on the methods and procedures being used.”  So the county is paying $2400 per year to a gas chamber company owner to advise them about using a gas chamber which he sold them? Local residents, who pay for the shelter with their tax money, want the gas chamber gone.  Is there a conflict of interest?  Read the contract here.

http://www.docstoc.com/docs/33747910/Person-County-Contract-with-Dr-Houser

Lee County Animal Control
Sanford, NC

County budgets show that a gas chamber company owner is a paid consultant for animal control.  Similar contract to above.

Vance County Animal Control

Henderson NC

The shelter manager called a rescuer and asked her to come and get a sweet dog who had survived the gas chamber.  He did not want to put her back in to be re-gassed.

Cabarrus County Animal Control

Concord, NC

Lieutenant Taylor gave me a tour of the shelter in 2007 and explained how the gas chamber is operated.  He said at the end of the cycle animals are removed from the chamber and placed in the incinerator.  I asked, “How do you know if they’re dead?”  He replied, “We just look at them.” According to experts, these animals could be burned alive if death is not verified.
Davidson County Animal Control

Lexington, NC

An NCDOL inspection of this shelter’s gas chamber revealed that National Welders Supply, which supplies CO gas to the shelter, does not formally inspect its cylinders for leaks.  So not only are leaking chambers a problem but also the cylinders.  Leaking carbon monoxide can be a hazard to staff and can make death slower for the animals.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/7646044/Davidson-County-Gas-Leak

Wilkes County Animal Shelter

Wilkesboro, NC

Shelter director Junior Simmons defends gas chamber.  He said recently that even friendly, lively animals are gassed.

Johnston County Animal Services

Smithfield, NC

County officials made a public statement that gassing would end for most animals impounded as of January 1, 2006.  But in February 2006, shelter director Ernie Wilkinson (a former small-town mayor) backtracked and said the county was “waiting for guidance from the state” to make that change.
Craven/Pamlico Animal Services Center

New Bern, NC

The head of this county tax-funded animal shelter is a board member for an anti-animal-rights organization.  She and the organization defend the gas chamber, against the wishes of local residents.
Union County Animal Services

Monroe, NC

Sheriff Eddie Cathey and animal control supervisor Michelle Starnes were defendants in a lawsuit filed by NC Coalition for Humane Euthanasia and the local humane society.  The attorney presented proof that puppies and kittens under the age of 16 weeks, and animals with medical problems, were routinely gassed.  The case ended with an agreement that the sheriff and animal control would follow the law.

http://www.wsoctv.com/download/2008/0307/15530318.pdf

Local residents have complained that they were not allowed to look for their lost pets in the back of the shelter.  Only a small number of kennels are in the adoption area, while most pets are hidden in back with no hope to be saved.

Gaston County Animal Control

Dallas, NC

Killing classes are presented at this shelter by a gas chamber salesman, Dr. Ralph Houser, who serves with the head of the shelter on the board of NC Animal Rabies Control Association.

Board members

Davie County Animal Control

Mocksville, NC

This shelter still has the old gas chamber, though the county says it is rarely used. The county is home to Davie, a dog who survived the gas chamber and was found in a dumpster by a local citizen.

http://www.freewebs.com/animalshelternews/

The namesake of the shelter inspired Davie’s Law, introduced in 2009, which if passed would end gas chambers and require only humane euthanasia by injection in our state’s shelters.

13-Pound Pooch Takes Hero Pet of the Year

Chi ChiMeet Chi Chi, this little Chihuahua mix is 13-pounds of attitude and now the Reader’s Digest Hero Pet of the Year!  Seems this little guy was out basking on Indian Beach on North Carolina’s Outer Banks with his owners, Rick and Mary Lane, when he became an unlikely hero and savior.

Hanging out in his own little beach chair, restrained because it seems he has a habit of chasing people, I did mention he has an attitude, right? Well, the little noticed something amiss and took off… still attached to his chair, dragging it down the beach behind him and making a yapping sound his owners had never heard before.

It didn’t take long for Chi Chi’s “mom” to spot the problem.

“There was a storm surge, and there were two elderly ladies — one had fallen on her back headfirst into the surf,” she said. “The other lady — a little bitty lady about 90 pounds — was trying to hold her head up, and she was in danger of being washed out.”

And no, the little pooch didn’t dive into the water and valiantly pull the struggling ladies out but he did set off the alarm that sent the Lanes into the water as rescue proxies for Chi Chi. After making sure the ladies were fine, a little shaken but otherwise okay, they headed back only to find the little yapping hero sound asleep in his chair, his job done.

Now Chi Chi has become the little celebrity in his home town and also captured enough hearts with his story to take be crowned Hero Pet of the year! But be wary if you meet this little guy on the street, he’s not into the petting thing, you’ll see on the video! LOL

Way to go Chi Chi!!

Chi Chi Received the Hero of the Year Award for his rescue work
