Rotweiller Saves Tiny Chiweenie from Coyote

Although taken in 2004 and posted three years ago by YouTube user jdpmep, this remarkable video of the unsuspecting pooch that was clearly a sitting target for the coyote, has gained sudden notoriety.

It could have been a doggie breakfast. But in just 30 seconds, the luck of a tiny Chihuahua-wiener dog, a chiweenie, named Trixxie turned, thanks to the loyalty of a canine friend. While the little black chiweenie was lying in the sun about 7:00 am, a coyote hurled across a field and viciously attacked her.

The vicious predator mauled the tiny pup for about 10 seconds, and would have already dragged her away if she was not tied up. Things weren’t looking good, until the struggle caught the attention of a neighbor’s dog.

Rottweiler ‘Happy’ can be seen streaking across the screen, from out of nowhere, to rescue the tiny pooch.

Through clouds of dust, Happy can be seen charging at the coyote who drops Trixxie.

As the tiny Chiweenie runs for her life, Happy chases the coyote out of the yard.

YouTube user jdpmep posted footage showing the moment a Rottweiler named Happy saved his tiny Chihuahua-wiener dog, Trixxie, from a coyote. jdpmep said his Cheweenie, Trixxie, only received a few punctures and didn’t need a rabies shot, adding that prior to this unusual attack, there had been no coyote sightings in the city.

While Rottweiler’s typically get a bad wrap for being vicious dogs, breeders say they can be loyal and considerate pets when trained.

The Huffington Post reported that this was not the first time a canine received adulation and praise for chasing off a predator.  In January, a Maltipoo saved its family’s younger Maltipoo from a coyote attack in California and miraculously survived the confrontation.

Happy was definitely a hero, and Trixxie was lucky, but I’m a little suspect of the fact that this little dog was outside alone yet being filmed as this happened.  Seems a bit too convenient and more like she was being used as bait for this YouTuber and questionable pet parent.  Am I the only one?  Hopefully someone has kept their eye on this poor pup and his owner ever since!!  JOMP~

Homeless man sends his dog for help… dog saves the day

BK9GBC

TUMWATER, Wash. — It’s the kind of thing Lassie did.

A homeless man suffered an medical emergency and sent his dog, Buddy, out for help.

A Tumwater, Wash., police detective says an ailing homeless man attached a note seeking help to his dog. Buddy’s harness and sent the animal out in hopes someone would read the message.

Detective Jen Kolb tells Seattle’s KIRO-TV (Video) that a womanHelp note attached to Buddy photo walking her dog along railroad tracks on Wednesday spotted the dog with the note that read, "Send Help. No Joke. Cannot walk." It also said, "Medicine not working. Need doctor."

The woman who found the note dialed 911, but the note wasn’t signed, and police did not know where the note came from.

Woman finds dog with note asking for help galleryThe note was unsigned, but police eventually found the man’s camp.

Kolb says the man was immobile and was afraid he was going to die, so he sent Buddy, for help.

KIRO reports the man was treated at an Olympia hospital and released and has been reunited with Buddy.

This homeless, but not friendless, man has his dog to thank for saving his life.

THE ELEPHANT’S JOURNEY TO PAY RESPECT, BUT HOW DID THEY KNOW ?????????

clip_image001[4]

Lawrence Anthony, a legend in South Africa and author of 3 books including the bestseller The Elephant Whisperer: My Life with the Herd in the African Wild, bravely rescued wildlife and rehabilitated elephants all over the globe from human atrocities, including the courageous rescue of Baghdad Zoo animals during US invasion in 2003. (Lawrence also wrote The Last Rhinos: My Battle to Save One of the World’s Greatest Creatures and The Elephant Whisperer: Learning about Life, Loyalty and Freedom from a Remarkable Herd of Elephants.

. On March 7, 2012 Lawrence Anthony died.

.He is remembered and missed by his wife, 2 sons, 2 grandsons & numerous elephants.

Two days after his passing, the wild elephants showed up at his home led by two large matriarchs.

Separate wild herds arrived in droves to say goodbye to their beloved man-friend’.

A total of 31 elephants had patiently walked over 12 miles to get to his South African House.

clip_image001[6]

Witnessing this spectacle, humans were obviously in awe not only because of the supreme intelligence and precise timing that these elephants sensed about Lawrence ‘s passing, but also because of the profound memory and emotion the beloved animals evoked in such an organized way:

Walking slowly -for days –

Making their way in a solemn one-by-one queue from their habitat to his house. Lawrence’s wife, Francoise, was especially touched, knowing that the elephants had not been to his house prior to that day for well over 3 years!

But yet they knew where they were going.

The elephants obviously wanted to pay their deep respects, honoring their friend who’d saved their lives – so much respect that they stayed for 2 days 2 nights without eating anything. Then one morning, they left, making their long journey back home…

SOMETHING IN THE UNIVERSE THAT IS GREATER AND DEEPER THAN HUMAN INTELLIGENCE

Man Swims with Arthritic Dog, Hopes to Ease the Animal’s Pain

Man-Swims-with-Arthritic-Dog-Hopes-to-Ease-the-Animal-s-Pain

Not very long ago, John Unger found that Schoep, the four-legged companion which stood by him over the past 19 years, is suffering from arthritis. Given the dog’s old age, doctors said little could be done except put it to sleep to keep it from experiencing any further pain.

However, owner John Unger decided to try something new: water therapy. Thus, both he and his dog now spend anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes floating in the waters of Lake Superior on a regular basis, something which helps ease the pressure of Schoep’s now fragile body.

One or Urger’s friends, Hannah Stonehouse, took a picture of the two floating together, and now Internet users worldwide are expressing their admiration for Urgen and send Schoep heartfelt encouragements.

“I would read about five of them and lose it for a good ten minutes and then come back to it. To see that this photo has lifted their spirits … that right there lifts mine even higher,” commented Urger on the messages he received from countless people.

Many people have donated funds to help get Scheop medical treatments and John Unger is setting up a fund to help other dogs as well.

Incredible Video: Dog Involved in Tragic DUI Accident Swims Half-Mile to Kayaker

Imagine you’re fishing in your kayak, and instead of reeling in a fish, you end up with a dog. That’s exactly what happened to one Tampa-area kayaker on Saturday afternoon, in a story that is both incredible and tragic.

As the man was fishing, he saw the dog — named Barney — swimming to his kayak. He eventually scooped him up and took him to a local vet. It just so happened that he had a camera rolling during the whole incident:

Video:  Sometimes when you’re fishing, strange things happen…like, dogs swim up to you

But the story doesn’t end there. The kayaker, who was baffled as to how and why Barney — who swam about a half-mile — got to him, then learned the tragic news. CBSTampa.com explains:

The man brought Barney to a local vet, who used a tracking chip implanted in him to discover his owner was Donna L. Chen, who was struck by a Nissan Altima and died moments before.

Florida Highway Patrol said Blake Talman, 22, was fleeing from an earlier crash in his Nissan Altima northbound on SR-758 when he struck Chen and Barney.

The two were jogging north on SR-758 when Talman allegedly failed to navigate a left curve causing him to leave the roadway and strike a metal pole before hitting Chen and a street sign. Chen was knocked from the sidewalk into the center of the road, reports indicate.

Barney took off, though there is no mention of him in the report.

Talman, the driver, currently is in Jail. He faces charges including DUI manslaughter and DUI property damage and personal injury.

(H/T: Drudge)  and ADDITIONAL UPDATE: the mystery is solved. However, it’s very sad and unfortunate

NOT ALL HEROES ARE PEOPLE – MEANING OF SELFLESS LOVE

clip_image001James Crane worked on the 101st floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. He is blind so he has a golden retriever named Daisy.

After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. She darted away into the darkened hallway.

Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the smoke James was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes back along with James’ boss, who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor 112.

On her first run of the building, she leads James, James’ boss, and about 300 more people out of the doomed building.

But she wasn’t through yet, she knew there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James’ wishes she ran back in the building.

On her second run, she saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During this run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees into tears.

Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time she is carried by a firefighter. "She led us right to the people, before she got injured" the fireman explained.

Her final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives. Daisy is the first civilian Canine to win the Medal of Honor of New York City.

HEART-WRENCHING IMAGE: DOG KEEPS WATCH OVER FALLEN SEAL’S CASKET DURING FUNERAL

Petty Officer Jon T. Tumilson was laid to rest Friday in Rockford, Iowa, where an estimated 1,500 mourners came to pay respects for the fallen Navy SEAL, including his dog Hawkeye. In fact, Hakeye’s loyalty to his owner at the funeral was visible, creating a heart-wrenching image as he laid down by the casket of his owner during the entire service:

KIMT-TV captured the scene on video:  HERE

The 35-year-old Tumilson died Aug. 6, when a rocket-propelled grenade disabled the helicopter he was in. It crashed, killing 30 Americans and eight Afghans. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

“‘Hawkeye is/was his loyal ‘son’,” wrote Tumilson’s cousin Lisa Pembleton in an email to The Blaze.  ”To say that he was an amazing man doesn’t do him justice. The loss of Jon to his family, military family and friends is immeasurable.”

Fellow Navy SEALS told KIMT-TV that Jon was someone with unmatched work ethic and character.

Last week hundreds of people were out at the airport to welcome the plane that returned his remains home, video from Northern Iowa Today:

Video:  Slain Soldier Comes Home

Perry Beeman of the Des Moines Register writes that Tumilson wrote a class paper when he was 15 about how he wanted to spend the next 20 years as a Navy SEAL:

“‘J.T. was going to be a Navy SEAL come hell or high water,’ friend Scott Nichols said of Tumilson, who was born in Osage on July 1, 1976, the nation’s bicentennial year, and grew up in Rockford.

Outside the service at the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock gym, two cranes hoisted a huge U.S. flag in Tumilson’s honor.

‘If J.T. had known he was going to be shot down when going to the aid of others, he would have went anyway,’ said Boe Nankivel, another friend.

Tumilson leaves behind parents George and Kathleen, sisters Joy and Kristie, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and of course, Hawkeye.

A relative of Tumilson wrote to the Blaze that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frogman238 Memorial Fund, First Security Bank and Trust, 201 West Main Ave., Rockford, Iowa 50468, (641)756-3361, to honor Tumilson’s memory.

This is an amazing story of loyalty and love and when you read stories like this you have to wonder how smart dogs… pets… animals… really are!  There was a study showing that ‘Dogs Have The Intelligence of a Human Toddler’ I believe that is true for some measurable abilities, but I think their intelligence is probably much higher in other areas when you hear about dogs who find their families clear across the country and even clear across the world, who pine away from loneliness for their owners, who figure out that concepts like riding the subway (like in Moscow to find food and to keep them out of the cold in the winter) and who sit and wait for their owners at train stations for their owners to return. And we know that dogs (animals) have heightened senses (like smell) that far surpass human’s.  We are also realizing and seeing, like in the touching story above that animals’ loyalty, compassion and feelings or sensitivities for humans and other animals are much greater than most people have given them credit for.

They often fight for us, serve us in many ways, make us smile, protect us, inspire us and most of all love us…

I recently had someone say to me, “I’m at the top of the food chain and therefore I eat first and deserve the best of what we have and then the pets get what is left!”  (It is also how she treats the people who work for her!) At our house we all share since I cook for our dogs and sometimes they get the best of what there is in the house that day because they can’t eat the other.  I prayed for that women!  But I really prayed for her dog… and all those out there who have it much worse.
