Los Angeles-based photographer Candice Sedighan, 21, decided to demonstrate just how ‘gentle’ her pet dog Champ is, by letting him loose with a group of newly-hatched birds.

In one of her images the canine is seen patiently modeling a top hat and, incredibly, a little yellow chick perches on top wearing a matching piece of miniature head gear.

Miss Sedighan said the chick’s hat came from a Lego set.

She taped the accessory to string and balanced it over the animal’s head to give the appearance of it being worn.

In another shot Champ is is seen lovingly nuzzling his newfound friends – which were rescued from a hatchery – being careful not to squash them with his paws or torso.

Strike a pose: Some commenters have accused Miss Sedighan of Photoshopping her images as they have an almost 'unreal' quality - However, the young photographer says in defense that she just has an 'an extraordinary trained model'

Miss Sedighan said that ‘this didn’t happen overnight’ and it took years of training to make Champ well-tempered.

She explains on Facebook: ‘There was an incident years ago when my parakeet got loose in the house and Champ "caught it" for me, resulting in an emergency visit to the vet and some stitches for the poor bird.

‘With years of training and our ever growing trust, here he is with some baby chicks.

‘The chicks seemed to really like to burrow in his fur for some extra warmth!’

Miss Sedighan started taking pictures of Champ eight years ago when he was aged three and now he has become the star of her Facebook and Instagram feeds.

Along with chicks he has also posed up with babies and most recently butterflies – even allowing one to perch on the end of his nose.

Some commenters have accused Miss Sedighan of Photoshopping her images as they have an almost ‘unreal’ quality.

However, the young photographer says in defense that she just has an ‘an extraordinary trained model.’

San Diego Zoo’s New baby gorilla has pneumonia… Baby Battling Back

Yahoo: SAN DIEGO (AP) — A baby gorilla delivered by a rare emergency cesarean section last week at the San Diego Zoo has pneumonia and is receiving round-the-clock care.

Zoo spokeswoman Christina Simmons the female gorilla was receiving oxygen and other treatment on Tuesday. She says the gorilla is sleeps a lot but is getting stronger day by day and vets are cautiously optimistic about her condition.

The medical team includes both vets and specialists in human neonatal care.

The gorilla was born March 12 and underwent surgery last Friday for a collapsed lung. It’s unclear whether she contracted pneumonia before or after birth.

The mother gorilla, an 18-year-old named Imani, had never given birth. The zoo says the C-section, rare for a gorilla, was performed because she was in distress after going into labor.

Iditarod 2014 is Underway…

by Isabel MatosA Time For Choosing

The Iditarod 2014 Ceremonial Start started at 10 a.m. Alaska time today (March 1, 2014). It should end between the 9th and 21st of March. The Iditarod Sled Dog race will start from Willow as planned. Each team consists of 12 to 16 dogs and their musher cover over 1150 miles in 8 to 20 days. The dogs were off at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. It was exciting. I gathered interesting  information about the race. The pictures below are beautiful, too!  It was rumored Sarah would host the ceremonial start but no mention was made.  Reaction as we watched the start:  “Watching the teams take off.. the Siberian vs. Alaskan huskies is an interesting match-up given the current politics between Russia and the US.”  Rob Hart.

Clydesdales Star in Budweiser Super Bowl Ad ‘Puppy Love’ Ad 2014

Budweiser Super Bowl Commercial 2014: Watch Clydesdales Star in 'Puppy Love' Ad

Jeff Roberson/Associated Press

Bleacher Report: Budweiser is one brand that has become a Super Bowl staple over the years. One thing it has done perhaps better than any other advertiser over the years is create associations with animals, most notably Clydesdales, and the product.

The latest example of its effectiveness comes with a commercial titled "Puppy Love." It showcases a young dog that creates a bond with the famous horses, and any time he’s taken away, he figures out how to get back with his much larger friends.

It’s another commercial in a long line of successful Super Bowl spots for Budweiser. Being able to tell an interesting story that anybody can understand in one minute or less is something that’s very much easier said than done, but the brand has made a habit of delivering memorable ads.

That connection between the Clydesdales and Bud is essential and makes for an outstanding marketing tool. It allows the commercial to focus on the story without having to spend a bunch of time showcasing the product itself.

Instead, when the Clydesdales pop up on the screen there’s instant knowledge that it’s a Budweiser commercial. There doesn’t need to be a ton of product placement, celebrities talking about it or anything else of that nature. It’s an automatic link.

The "Puppy Love" spot was actually released ahead of the big game, which is a growing trend as companies attempt to have their commercials go viral. It was an immediate hit, with Adweek calling it the "first truly great" spot of the Super Bowl batch:

Richard Feloni of Business Insider provides a little more detail about those who take part in the sequel to last year’s Budweiser Super Bowl ad:

The actor Don Jeanes returns to his role as the head of Warm Springs Ranch in Missouri, where the beer company raises its iconic Clydesdale horses. Actress (and former swimsuit model) Melissa Keller is introduced as the owner of a puppy adoption center next door.

Budweiser deserves a lot of credit for coming up with good ideas for the Super Bowl on a yearly basis. Advertising during the event is costly and that means there’s little margin for error, but the brand rarely swings and misses with its spots.

"Puppy Love" is another home run… or touchdown might be more appropriate…
