Think about this the next time you go out for Chinese dinner in the U.S. or anywhere else. Are you really sure what you are eating?
And stop supporting a country, a society, people who think this is okay. Stop buying Chinese products until this changes. China has a horrific record on both human rights and the treatment of animals and they have poisoned our kids with led toys in Happy Meals; they have sold us bad pet food over and over again that has killed hundreds if not thousands of American pets; and they manipulate their currency to destroy ours (the currencies of the west).
These disturbing images show dogs being cooked and served up as a meal in a grim Chinese tradition.
The animals are chopped up and cooked in front of diners – despite a growing anti-cruelty campaign.
A group of Chinese activists in Yulin City, Guangxi province, descended on the dog meat market campaigning against eating the animals.

Artist Pian Shan Kong knelt down in front of the dead animals confessing for people’s sins as he apologized to the dead animals during the demonstration.
China is yet to make animal cruelty illegal and end the grim tradition despite campaigning by animal rights activists.
Pet lovers’ associations have sprung up in Chinese cities over recent years.
While many Chinese enjoy rich dog meat, especially during cold winters, some object to the practice in some regions of beating dogs to death to release the blood into the meat.

When food is scarce, dogs are eaten as an emergency food source around China in a practice which is seen as socially acceptable.
As the country becomes more affluent, a growing number of families are buying dogs as pets fuelling the growing campaign against animal cruelty.
In April, more than 500 dogs set to be slaughtered were saved when the truck they were being carried in to the slaughterhouse was intercepted by activists.
Many of the 505 creatures had barely survived their terrible ordeal, having endured cramped conditions and a lack of water during their near 1,000 mile journey by road.
But rescue came too late for 11 dogs which had succumbed to dehydration and exposure.

The heroic service dogs were euthanized because they were deemed too “dangerous” for civilian adoption or jobs with law enforcement agencies, as well as for medical reasons according to U.S. Air Force reports given to Congress.
The dogs were used as guards and to sniff out terrorist bombs.
It’s not as if no homes could be found:
Currently more than 300 people are waiting to adopt a military dog, with an average waiting time of 18 months.
Betraying those who loyally served in Afghanistan and Iraq has been characteristic of the current administration.
Is there anything these people do right?
No wonder Bo is trying to get away from him!!
On a tip from Dragon’s Lair.
*All but ‘1’ of the dogs rescued from Mike Vick’s fighting ring were rehabbed and re-homed without any problems!! This is horrible and ridiculous! Everyone of these military K-9’s who served for us deserved better… a home and family to retire to after their service. And if after the ongoing VA scandal, anyone out there still believes that ‘they’ care any more about our 2-legged veterans than the 4-legged ones… Houston, We have a problem!!

The Bureau of Land Management is confirming it killed six cattle as part of its standoff against the Bundy Ranch in Bunkersville, NV.
Breitbart.com: “A total of six cattle died or were euthanized,” a BLM official told Breitbart News. (We would venture to guess that it turns out to be a lot more than 6!)
The official listed the dead livestock cataloged by the BLM explaining, “The Bundy branded bull that was euthanized posed a significant threat to employees during the gather. The Bundy branded cow ran into a fence panel injuring its spine and was euthanized.” The dead animals listed by the official were:
According to the BLM, the gather was based on recent court orders. “Most recently, in 2013, in two separate orders, the U.S. District Court of Nevada directed Mr. Bundy to remove his cattle within 45 days, and authorized the United States to impound his cattle,” said the official.
The Bundy Ranch Facebook page, run by Bundy’s daughter Bailey Bundy Logue, posted photos of dead cattle from a mass grave, which they say belong to the Bundy Ranch, a few days after the BLM impoundment and called the agency’s actions “unjust.” The Bundy Ranch claim the cows and bulls were either “run to death” or shot.
The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals weighed in on the situation as well telling Breitbart News in a statement, “These animals shouldn’t be killed either by the government, or by the rancher who plans to send the cows off to slaughter. The best thing anyone can do to stop the suffering of animals is to go vegan.”
The Bundy family has refused to stop allowing their cattle to graze on federally-owned land, saying the federal government does not have any authority over them. The impasse led to a tense standoff last-week in which both federal agents and Bundy supporters had sniper rifles trained on each others. The government ultimately backed down, at least for now.
Voiceless Friends: Animal Equality and Last Chance for Animals have undertaken an intensive investigation into slaughterhouses and the dog meat markets in the Leizhou peninsula and the rest of the province of Guangdong in China.
Dogs raised for the meat markets are often taken from the street or stolen from families. These animals are kept almost their entire lives confined in wire cages where they suffer terribly both physically and psychologically. Whilst in the cramped cages, they are scared. They suffer from hunger, extreme temperatures, and a lack of food and water.
Their deaths are horrific: various blows to the head leave the animals in a semi-conscious state before being stabbed to death. The dogs are bled out and die after agonising minutes whilst struggling in a desperate bid to stay alive.
Both organisations have joined forces in a campaign to end the consumption of dog meat and its production in China. Just like you, millions of people, in China and beyond, believe that cat and dog slaughter for human consumption is absolutely unacceptable. This is why we are urging the Chinese government to prohibit this cruel trade immediately.
Help us stop the massacre!
By signing our petition you are letting the Chinese Government know that you are against the consumption of dog and cat meat, aswell as the use of their fur. It is vital to add your signature to the thousands of people who have already joined this campaign to ensure that this practice becomes history, once and for all.
Cruelty and an abhorrent death
In China, dog meat has been eaten for thousands of years and, in some parts of the country, it is considered a socially acceptable practice that is even promoted by the government. Dog meat is thought to have medicinal properties, and is popular in winter months as it is believed to warm the body. It is particularly popular in the northeast of the country, along the border of Korea, but it is also consumed in the southern regions of Guizhou, Guangdong and Guangxi.
It is estimated that over 18 million dogs are killed each year for their meat or fur in China. These animals spend practically their entire lives in cages, surrounded by dirt and feces. They consume a poor quality diet which causes the dogs to become weak and diseased. Some resort to cannibalism.
Most of the dogs in the meat trade industry within China have been caught from the streets, others have been bred on illegal farms or even kidnapped from loving homes.
After being transported to the slaughterhouse in cages where the dogs can barely move, an abhorrent death awaits them. Most of the dogs are clubbed ad beaten violently on the head with sticks, hung upside down, stabbed in the thorax region, bled out, or electrocuted. On many occasions, the animals do not die instantly, they lose consciousness only briefing, before being stabbed to death.
Although it is illegal to eat dog meat in many countries around the world, law enforcement is weak and it continues being a popular dish even where it is prohibited.
Countries such as the Philippines or Taiwan have included animal welfare acts to ban the trading and eating of dog meat, but the law is not enforced.
Although China does not currently have in place legislation to protect animals, in 2010 a draft animal welfare legislation was proposed to prohibit the consumption of dog meat. Chinese animal protection groups however have predicted that this legislation will not be effective at curbing the trade. Some areas of China however, such as Hong Kong, have effectively introduced bans on dog meat consumption.
In South Korea, 2 million dogs are killed each year for their meat, and although the Korea Food & Drug Administration recognises all edible products as ‘food’, other than drugs, Seoul has passed a regulation classifying dog meat as a ‘repugnant food’. Once again, however, the regulation has so far been ineffective at stopping the demand for dog meat.

One of the many dark tales coming out of Sochi is the revelation that Russian authorities have been executing stray dogs. US Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy plans to do something about it by saving them.
American Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy and Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska are doing their part to save the stray dogs in Sochi
Obviously, people were outraged when they heard about the killings. Oleg Deripaska, one of the wealthiest men in Russia, was so upset by this that he took it upon himself to save as many as he could. He used his fortune to build shelters for the strays in Baranovka, which is near Sochi.
Kenworthy expected to be on his way home with the pups by now but has been delayed by paperwork problems in Russia?!?
Some of the the dogs are being adopted by Olympics fans and heading to new homes. According to ABC News on Tuesday the process of American fans adopting a dog is being helped by the Humane Society International.
Outlining all the requirements for moving a dog from one country to another, it seems that finding a local Russian vet is the fastest way to get help in seeing if Fido can come home. Getting all the shots necessary for the pup to leave the country is the first step. Plus a kennel needs to be acquired for the flight of an animal if they are going to be shipped on an airplane. The process of owning a Russian dog might be costly with just the airplane ride being $150 for the canine’s travels to their new home.
Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska stepped in before the Olympics and opened a mountain refuge for some dogs to hang out, but the issue still isn’t resolved. Fans worry that after the athletes leave the dogs could be left out to roam again or worse.
Offering up assistance to help adopt dogs seems like a logical solution at the moment and if fans are willing to take a new four legged friend home, it might be the perfect answer to helping some of the dogs.

By Nicole Hayden – LSJ.com
Gannett Michigan: Logan’s Law, a package of four bills designed to fight animal abuse passed through the Michigan House of Representatives Judiciary Committee on Thursday.
“We are pretty excited about the bills being passed through the committee,” said Rep. Paul Muxlow, R-Brown City.
Muxlow sponsored House Bill 4534 of Logan’s Law. The bill stipulates that before someone can adopt a shelter animal, the shelter must use the Internet Criminal History Access Tool, which is a Michigan State Police database, to search for a history of child and spousal abuse and other violence.
The other bills include language that non-profits do not have to pay to access ICHAT; state police will prepare an annual report of animal abuse offenses; and convicted abusers cannot adopt an animal for five years after their time has been served.
The annual report will serve as a registry of animal abusers.
“This is a very big victory for Logan’s Law and for all of the animals in Michigan,” said Matt Falk, owner of Logan, a Siberian husky for whom the law was named.
In 2012, someone splashed Logan, who was in his outside kennel, with acid, Falk said.
“(Logan) liked to sleep outside because it was much cooler,” Falk, of Wales Township, said. “When I went to bring him inside in the morning, I noticed he had red burns on the right side of his face. We immediately rushed him to the vet.”
Falk said that it took four to five days to neutralize the acid.
The bills will now move to the Michigan Senate floor for a vote, then back to the House floor for a full vote before going to the governor to sign into law.
Falk said he hopes “the law will be signed by the summer or early fall of this year.”
Falk, along with House and Senate members, have work on passing the law for two years.
“There has been about 12 different bill numbers for the animal abuse registry all together,” Falk said. “Most of the original bills didn’t make it through the process.”
Falk said he wants to protect other animals from what his dog suffered.
“Logan lost his eyesight, and his sense of smell,” said Falk. “There was a time when his face was just melting off.”
Four months after the attack, Logan died.
“Through our investigations we found there is a lot of animal abuse,” said Muxlow. “There is much more animal abuse than we will ever know or assume of.”
If the bills pass, Michigan will be the first state to enact an animal abuse registry.
“This will be historic legislation,” said Falk. “The bills will set a precedence for other states to begin legislation for registries of their own.”

Local officials have cited "safety" for visiting guests as the reason for the mass killing; according to the publication, a company has been hired to do the dirty work.
Nightly, roaming dogs are captured in baited traps…then killed with poison.
Rescuers in the area are doing their best to get to the stray dogs first…they try to capture the dogs, get them sterilized and vaccinated, and ultimately adopted into homes.
Unfortunately, the number of un-sterilized, stray dogs makes the rescuers’ job difficult – new litters are constantly being born and the killing crews continue on with their dark, unsavory work.
According to USA Today, last April, the government had stated that they were backing off of their plans to kill an estimated 2,000 dogs, but it appears that the dirty work of killing has simply been transferred to a non-government agency.

Save a Life…Adopt Just One More…Pet!
Everyday we read or hear another story about pets and other animals being abandoned in record numbers while at the same time we regularly hear about crazy new rules and laws being passed limiting the amount of pets that people may have, even down to one or two… or worse yet, none.
Nobody is promoting hoarding pets or animals, but at a time when there are more pets and animals of all types being abandoned or being taken to shelters already bursting at the seams, there is nothing crazier than legislating away the ability of willing adoptive families to take in just one more pet!!
Our goal is to raise awareness and help find homes for all pets and animals that need one by helping to match them with loving families and positive situations. Our goal is also to help fight the trend of unfavorable legislation and rules in an attempt to stop unnecessary Euthenization!!
“All over the world, major universities are researching the therapeutic value of pets in our society and the number of hospitals, nursing homes, prisons and mental institutions which are employing full-time pet therapists and animals is increasing daily.” ~ Betty White, American Actress, Animal Activist, and Author of Pet Love
